£10K raised at the Shire
5 June 2008
Glorious sunshine greeted 80 guests of Stewart Golf and Sparks at the stylish surroundings of The Shire London on May 29, 2008. For more images of the day please visit our gallery area.
Dotted among the X1 and X3 owners and guests of Sparks were some of our more familiar faces including Tiff Needell (pictured teeing off, left) DJ Spoony, Phil Daniels, Anton du Beke, Kriss Akabusi, Derek Martin and John Conteh. DJ Spoony was the leading celebrity, scoring 39 points (off a playing handicap of 9) and winning both the longest drive and one of six nearest the pin prizes.
After the golf, guests were treated to a sumptuous three course dinner, followed by a presentation on the new F1 Lithium by Stewart Golf MD, Mark Stewart. MC for the evening Ryan Phillpot then introduced our special guest auctioneer, snooker legend Willie Thorne.
The overall winning team consisted of Shaun Johnson, Jason Lindsay, Alan Woodward and Robert Phipps. Alan Woodward was also the overall victor, with Shaun Johnson also picking up the overall nearest the pin trophy.
Auction items included a signed Jack Nicklaus flag from 'The Open', a signed Wayne Rooney football boot, a 4-ball with Matt Dawson at Stoke Park, a 4-ball with Willie himself at The Wisley and many other exclusive items, including one of the first F1 Lithium's off the production line later this year.
The result at the end of the evening was just over £10,000 raised for Sparks. This tops last years total by over £3,000 and makes a big difference to our nominated charity. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the day and made it a success both for Stewart Golf and more importantly Sparks. We hope to see you all again at next years event.
